> that guard falls, as well, just as the last remaining guard from the other room attempts to retreat into the hall, christos on his heels. using his surprise to her advantage, she uses her incredible speed to strike unexpectedly (feint 54), and quite effectively, slicing him right below his rib cage. the attack disorients the guard enough that she’s able to pull her rapier free with the flick of her wrist, throwing a bit more of her weight behind her next attack, and driving her sword straight through his heart (atk 28, critical strike; dmg 40). christos comes out the door right after the now dead guard, only to have witnessed francesca viciously murderize him with no hesitation. his eyebrows lift a bit as he meets her gaze, certainly approving. it was hot. and tre romantique. fight me.

> while she remains unscathed, aedan and christos both took some serious hits, and while she’s concerned, she knows they need keep moving. which she does without making a single sound (move silently nat 20). as scout, she notices shadows moving at a juncture up ahead (spot 26; listen 21).
> three guards in total are around the next corner, and christos indicates they each take one. christos jumps from the shadows, backstabbing the first guard, and immediately ending his life. le sigh. aedan manages to drop his assigned target, as well, but as they actually move around the corner they do see two more guards coming up a stairwell. francesca jabs the last of the original three guards right through several of his internal organs with a critical hit (atk 34; dmg 34), and he also dead. the two guards that had momentarily appeared then retreated down the stairwell again. /init
> christos texts bo and han on the ground floor to warn them of the oncoming guards, and also then notices the message from wynn alerting everyone to the horrible shadow monsters now storming the land. plus a private message just for christos about some driders headed straight for the castle. christos volunteers to go alone (of course) but francesca argues and he concedes because he promised, ok.

> they leave the guard house and head straight for the woods, christos navigating their way to the castle (and bitching the whole time). they reach the fence around the castle, and after checking for any immediate threats, quietly (spot 28; move silently 24), she scales that bitch with expert speed and dexterity (climb nat 20).
> spotting the driders in the gardens behind the castle, the two of them take cover in the nearby hedges (hide 26). upon christos’ signal (after waiting 18 seconds), she lunges into melee with the nearest drider, catching it unaware, and striking it in the side (atk 25; dmg 27). christos jumps out almost immediately after her, sinking his rapier straight into the other drider’s heart and killing it instantly with a death attack. through some miraculous strength of will, francesca manages not to lose her concentration amid such unequivocal sexiness, and instead darts five feet to the side with inhuman (literally) speed (feint 50). she then attacks, plunging her rapier into the thing’s flesh (atk 25; dmg 25), rips her sword free, and then thrusts forward again, apparently having located a particularly vital spot (critical atk 29; dmg 40). it falls over dead, as she apparently speared it into pieces before it even had a chance to react. christos meets her eyes for an extended moment again, and francesca can’t help but smirk a little, because no one can deny how fucking hot that round of combat was. i mean, look at this icon. also because adrenaline. probably.
> sneaking around some more hedges, they locate more driders, and christos one-shots another with an always impressive death attack. francesca darts out to fiercely attack one of the others still standing, landing a very effective surprise hit (atk 28; dmg 46), which actually kills that one, as well. one of the two left standing throws a web spell their way, which they both easily avoid (reflex 41), and francesca somersaults out to attack the other drider (tumble 40), catching it off guard (feint 49) to land a vital strike (critical atk 32; dmg 37). failing it’s massive damage roll, that drider dies, too. the last remaining one strikes out toward christos three times, but misses which every one. christos then returns the favor, but actually hits, finishing off that drider, as well. bodies. bodies everywhere. /init
