Knights of Legend | Test Drive Meme

Interested in playing at Knights of Legend but want to get a feel for the players/characters/world? Already in the game but want to clown around with other muses to see how they would fit here? Now's your chance!
The setting is our world... but all the legends are real, because magic has spilled over the centuries from a Dungeons & Dragons fantasy dimension called the Shadow World into the modern one. If you have a canon character, they too have spilled over through cracks between dimensions - and remember little to nothing of their past lives, except in some rare cases. How much they remember is entirely up to you! Canon characters can either have recently arrived in this world, or already be settled and accustomed to it. Original characters are natives of either this modern+magic dimension, or from the Shadow World - in which case, they too lost memories on their journey here.
Either way, your characters have joined up with the Knights of the Silver Dragon: a large secret organization dedicated to protecting this world against the evil creatures arriving from other dimensions - and protecting the innocent dimensional travelers from cultural misunderstandings and prejudice that they face here.

How it works:
1. Post as your character with Name | Canon if applicable in the subject line. You can choose the scene and prompt yourself or leave it blank for others to decide. Current players can make threads too, if you'd rather tag them!
2. Others respond to your prompt or after going to RNG and entering numbers 1- 15 for a prompt.
3. Respond and play it out!
4. Part of the fun of KOL is using dice rolls to determine success or failure of actions taken! For the purpose of this meme, don't worry about having a character sheet or stats for your character - if the GM or a fellow player asks you to make a roll to determine something, simply randomize out of 20 and compare it to the number they give you to see if your character succeeds or fails!
5. Play nice. If someone doesn't want to play something out, respect their wishes.
You may use threads from this meme for your application samples!
1. Arrival; Your character wandered into some mysterious mist in their homeworld... and abruptly finds themselves in some part of our modern world, with either all, most, some, or none of their memories missing! Play out their confused first steps in this new world. Get creative about where and what they arrived in the middle of! Many people end up using this TDM as canon or partial canon to their post-Veil history! As long as you get the consent of those you're threading with, that's perfectly fine. :)
2. Popo Shut Us Down; Oh crap, get to the getaway car! You may be innocent or have actually broken the law, but either way, you've got to escape those sirens because the cops don't know or care that you've got a license to kill and now you're wanted. Car, boat, chopper, whatever you want, just flee the scene together and fast!
3. The Floor is Lava; When spells go very wrong (or right?), sometimes childhood games aren't so funny... or imaginary.
4. Trapped in an Elevator; Bad luck or part of a villainous trap?
5. Roadtrip; You and the other character are on a mission together but it involves some travel. How will you handle life on the road together?
6. Trapped! One of the characters is trapped, whether behind bars or an unbreakable glass. Drama and/or epic breakouts ensue.
7. Apocalyptica. It's the end of the world!!11 Evil mages, horrible cults, the tarrasque, world war iii, you choose. The world needs some heroes, so maybe you should get on that.
8. Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Whether mad science gone wrong, or dangerous magic, now there are people-sized tomatoes terrorizing the town. Someone better do something about that.
9. Critical Failure. There's failure, and then there's critical failure - the result of rolling a one on your d20. This is an epic level of fail often reserved for slapstick comedy, but sometimes having really horrible consequences. You just set fire to the book you were attempting to do research with. You just tripped and fell face first into a moat full of crocodiles. Here's a solid example.
10. Weapon Training! The Knights handed you a gun - and gave you access to a massive armory full of every kind of medieval and modern weapon you can imagine. Make use of the combat rooms and get in some sparring time!
11. Handcuffed Together; You've fallen prey to a set of cursed handcuffs, and now you and the other character are inseparable! Literally...
12. Savior; you've been tasked to save this person, no matter the cost. Maybe they're a stranger, maybe they're your closest friend, even your greatest enemy, but you have to save them. From who or what is up to you!
13. C-c-c-cellmates. Man, getting kidnapped stinks. Break out?
14. Texts From Last Night; Either go to tfln, and select one, or make up one of your own!
15. Shot By Your Teammate; In the heat of battle, accidents happen... and the other character just shot you.
16. Attack the Darkness; A classic dungeon crawl scenario! Never split the party as you make your way through a dungeon full of monsters and traps, looking for some kind of treasure.
17. Passive Aggressive Post-It Notes; Living with your fellow Knights 24/7, whether at the castle, or in close quarters on a mission, means you're going to get on each other's nerves sometimes. One or both of you is leaving passive aggressive post-it's for the other. Either respond in only post-it's back and forth, or roleplay out a confrontation once the notes get out of hand! Feel free to use the Post It Note Generator if you so choose!
18. Awkward Brunch; You've all seen plenty of these scenes before. There are tons of situations that can make things ~awkward~ between two people. And now you have to have brunch together. Uncomfortably pull through.
19. Fashion Show; Joining the Knights means getting a fancy suit of chainmail armor in blue and silver to wear for your Knighting ceremony. It weighs a ton and is awkward as fuck 8D You and the other character are trying them on for the first time together.
20. Another Goddamn Squiring Party: Squiring parties are exciting! Until you've been to a hundred of them.. Maybe this one will get spiced up with some drunken shenanigans???
Roooadtrip!
Just a heads up? I had to skip breakfast to get here on time so we'll be stopping at the nearest diner that looks like it doesn't serve roadkill on the way. [That would be Rose for; Hi!?] Do you need a hand with your stuff?
woooooo
Non-roadkill sounds like a start. Really, anything that resembles food works for me. [ Food tended to fall off of her radar on a regular basis, given everything she'd been through. It wasn't something she'd exactly remedied upon arrival from Faerie. Her bad. She picks up the backpack with a hint of a smile at the offer before starting to move. ] And I tend travel light, old habit. [ She was gonna try to be a good travel companion because so far Rose was nice and nice was a good change from the usual angry demeanor of Pritkin. ]

I can relate. [Grinning wryly.] When they pulled me in all I had were the clothes on my back. [Rose leaning over the top of the car to chat before sliding behind the wheel.
As far as travel companions went, Rose probably wouldn't be a bad one but she also wasn't one to beat around the bush either.]
So... It's Cassie, right? [At least she paid attention to the briefing.] What's your deal? We get like, a few types that want to join up with The Knights. People who are looking to fight, people who are a little on the different side and people who have nowhere else to go. [Way to ease her into it there Rose.] That or, all of the above.
AND APPARENTLY IT'S WORD VOMIT TIME, I'm so sorry but not really
That's a little more than I had, gotta say I'm a little jealous.
[ It's meant to be funny even if the situation she'd come from was anything but. Deflection with dry humor was her default setting. But Rose definitely doesn't waste any time playing the getting to know you game with favorite colors or fake stories about a happy home. She might not like being on this side of it, but she could definitely appreciate it. ] Yeah, Cassie... and I guess -- A lot happened back home - I came into some responsibilities I didn't want and things went badly. A lot of people got hurt because of me. Because they tried to keep me safe, because -- [ Fingers fidget in her pocket, a gold eagle trinket coming into view. The rest of Mac's wards were in her backpack, that reminder of why she doesn't let people get close to her. They die, get hurt, or betray her. But, maybe in this world - it'd all be different. But, in order to make it different, she needed to make an effort. 100% -- ok, 75% honesty. She tries to shake the haunted look from her expression, managing a soft smile. ] My powers don't really work here so I'm kinda stuck. Figured I'd make use of my time here helping out -- trying to do something good with what I've got. It's what I'm supposed to do, to help people - to find a way to keep the bad things from happening. It's a promise I made to myself, to someone else.
[ She's quiet for a little while, the golden trinket turning over in her fingers. ] Besides, I was told there might be people who can help me figure out exactly what it is I can do in this world and possibly even back home. Already puts me 3 steps ahead of where I was back home. Be the one in control of them instead of the other way around. [ She gives a little chuckle, trying to lighten things up a bit. ] Bonus: freeish vacation, no Pritkin or Mircea breathing down my neck, no one trying to kill me for at least 5 minutes, and people who actually care about good food.
<3 hush I maybe did it back...
You remember your life pre-veil? [Not that it was unheard of but the surprise that touches Rose’s features might suggest she wasn’t so lucky. Or, unlucky... depending on how you looked at things.
Even if the road had most of her focus, she doesn’t miss the eagle trinket but on the off chance it might hold some sentimental value. She keeps her questions to herself, pretending like she hadn’t caught that look in her eyes either. People who had things they didn’t want to talk about? Had a knack for picking that up in others so at least Cassie had a suitable car companion in Rose.]
The food is good. [Picking up the threads of the easier topics to begin with.] The beds are better. The Castle is... well it’s a Castle. They don’t cheap out on the décor and the people... [There’s a tightness that appears around her eyes, the words not coming easily at first but her expression changes. A smile softening her features.] It takes all kinds to fill out the ranks but you’ll find your feet sooner or later and with that, the good ones.
[It had take Rose longer than most to find hers and things had needed to get pretty bad before she got there and yet now? She wouldn’t trade any of it because of how things had turned out. Just... don’t ask her to openly talk about it.]
The people trying to kill you thing is still a problem but you’ll have back up and some downtime in between. [Grinning wryly.] Pritkin and Mircea. [Glancing at Cassie.] People from home?

[ Death, pain, suffering... Blood. It's all she sees when she tries to concentrate on who she used to be. A part of her wants to find out, to see if she can get her powers to cooperate for once and show her something about herself that wasn't going to suck. She's grateful that Rose went along with the shift in conversation, Cassie still having a few issues with trust and letting people get close to her. One of the few things she was actually grateful to remember. Her own warning to herself. ]
Good food and a solid bed is a hell of a lot better than my set-up right now. [ A tiny little studio apartment above the bar she worked at, something that gave her a sense of déjà-vu although she couldn't quite put her finger on it. ] It'll take a little getting used to, at least for me. I don't exactly make a point to spend a lot of time with large groups of people. [ Because people had pasts and pasts could come through if she bumped them the wrong way. She had enough confusing nightmares of her own, she didn't need more. There's a soft chuckle at the killing comment, shaking her head a little. ] Well, fits my request of more than five minutes. So I'll take it. As for Pritkin and Mircea, more like bubble invading problems from home. [ If only she remembered a few other key pieces that might've made her re-think that statement. ]
