Welcome back, everybody! We are wrapping up the main plot log finally, which means it's time to pull the trigger on the big shift to America for the Knighthood. To that end, I would appreciate everyone who is still playing responding to this post with both your mission sign-ups and the following info:

What EACH of your characters intends to do when the move happens (agree to go, run away and go on a cruise, stay behind in London even if it means getting cut off from communication with the rest of the Knights, etc. etc.) I would really like to limit the number of Knights remaining behind in the castle in London. Going to the SHIELD base does not mean that your character will be placed on the front lines of battle, but is the only way that they will be able to continue to contribute to the effort to stop Blade and anyone allying with him, and the only way that they will continue to receive missions from Hasmed and Solace.
Any changes you'd like to make to your active/inactive line-up.
Any (obviously non-secret, unless you can be subtle) plot threads that you need tied up from me in order to figure out the above.

An important note on time: Since the game was very slow for the last year for various reasons, I am keeping us on a timeline one year behind the current year. That means that we'll pick up in March of 2018, with moving in to the SHIELD base having just happened.

And, of course:

YOUR MISSION, SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT

is to give me an idea of what you're interested in doing in regard to missions as a response to this post, sometime before Friday, March 15th.

Those who do not respond will be placed on the inactive list. You are allowed to reactivate at any time without a re-app.

Please respond with a list of all your active characters and what you'd like for them. If you have any characters who have NEVER BEEN ON A MISSION, please indicate this in your comment, and list them first. If I still owe you an intro mission that we discussed, please note that too!

This is to help sort out characters onto missions for the next 4-5 months.

Needing/wanting a more laid back approach through the next several months? You're probably going to want option 1.

1) Opt Out. First off, if you're worried about being just too busy to do any missions at all in the next several months (given that missions ask for a steadier rate of tags than social castle logs do) and would rather opt out entirely, please respond with "OPT OUT -CHARACTER NAME-" or Option 1. Your character will still be able to participate in social logs, but they won't be holding up any group missions by accident.

However, if you're interested in doing a regular mission, with lots of NPC and fellow PC interaction, guided action scenarios with dicerolls and all that goodness, option 2 or 3 will be the way to go.

2) Mission Me! If you would like to be involved on a mission at all, please select option 2, and tell me what level that character is currently.

Missions could go on for awhile - usually in terms of several months, but sometimes for way longer. They could be straight forward problems: complicated political issues, in depth investigations, far reaching evil organizations, etc or issues with a quicker fix: a single monster, incident, person, item, etc. that requires dealing with. All missions will be taking place in America, and deal with the current situations resulting from the main game plot of Keijen Blade ascending to godhood. Technically, everyone is on main plot now... congrats, y'all in it.

Completion time varies greatly depending on the speed of the group.

3) Failboat. [costs XP] The mission group is closed to all those who have had a story reason to split from the Knights and follow Jack Chessing. This mission will take place soon after the wrap of the aftermath of current main plot mission. There will be another Failboat social log incoming soon as well. Keep an eye out for Plot Shop sign-ups. Please make sure you will have time to dedicate to steadily and quickly tagging the Failboat mission posts if you continue on with Option 3. This means being able to tag back within a 48 hour window, ideally.

WE DID IT, Y'ALL. SEVEN YEARS. SHIT. I'm running out of pithy things to say every year. All I know is that I am super energized and pumped to bring about KOL Endgame (as it were) and totally open to continuing adventures beyond that point for anyone who wants them. Assuming the world is not destroyed. That might be a wild assumption. We are living in the worst timeline. And it's gonna be a wild ride.

As always, incredible amounts of gratitude to those of you who stick this thing out through the slow times and the rough times and come back with such mind-blowing enthusiasm each time. I will continue to work hard to bring you the surprises, drama, and pain that define our little world.

As a reward for your continued time in the game, all players with active characters can head over to the magic weapon shop and create one weapon for a character of your choice that has a total +2 enhancement bonus. That means that it can either have a flat +2 (to attack and dmg), or a +1 enhancement and then one of the +1 weapon special abilities. It can be any kind of weapon.
Storywise, these weapons will be enchanted by Hasmed and doled out for this end of the world eventuality.

Everybody be superbusy, so I figure it's better for us to try to nail down a day for the finale sooner than later! If you are planning to participate in the Chapter 4 finale (the Keijen Blade concert Failboat was "invited" to here), please answer the poll below, and also leave a comment with days that work really well or not well for you! Let's try to schedule something between August or September! It will hopefully necessitate a single day's session, which we'll say will be between 4 and 7 hours to be safe. ... and then life happened.

Most, if not all players in this game know by now that the game has slowed down considerably over the last year, because of a series of events in my real life that have basically reduced the time and mental resources that I have to finish out the last chapter finale and chapter of this game. I never expected this sort of soft hiatus to go this long, or I would have made a more official announcement of it sooner, but I have been endlessly appreciative of the patience that you all have demonstrated, particularly given where some of your plots were hanging when things petered out as they did.

I have never ever considered stepping away and not returning to finish, and it has been very heartening for me to hear from some of you that you will be here whenever I can get back.

Well, that time has finally come, bitches. I am full of excitement and enthusiasm to make this work, but was also really sad to realize that with everything happening in my outside life, I somehow MISSED OUR FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY, but it would have seemed silly to have that post when the game was half-dead anyway, so we're considering this it. Technically, the game is now 5 years and 3 months, which is amazing and humbling, and I cannot tell you all how happy it has made me. I hope it has brought you enough joy to offset the horrible things that I sometimes like to do to your characters.

There will be no five year anniversary survey - instead I ask that if you are still interested in playing in Knights of Legend with this sort of soft re-opening as it were, that you just leave a comment on this post of any kind. Those who do not comment in the next month will be placed on the Deactivated list but may re-activate officially at anytime (remember, there is no penalty for doing this).

I may contact each current mission group and discuss whether they want to finish their thread, hand-wave and discuss the ending, or Skype it out, just so that we get a bit of a 'fresh start'. All of you who have continued tagging your missions over this last year are my heroes. I'm sorry that I couldn't be nearly as consistent as some of you. I'm working on mapping out all the plotlines in the game and figuring out what needs doing in each of them, but I will probably require lots of input from you all to make sure I don't miss things. I considered erasing the last OOC year from the timeline, to make things make more sense, but I think that we can use the months of hand-waved time to let things have come to a simmer in character relationships/plots/etc. since I know that it can be hard to jump right back into the mood of where things were so long ago. I will need everyone to act as if it makes sense ICly for all this time to have passed with certain things still hanging in the air in order for this to work.

I apologize again for real life overriding my responsibilities to you all but thank every one of you, whether you choose to stay or not, for the memories, the patience, the kindness, and the heart that you have continually brought to my game. I love every one of you. And as a special anniversary gift, everyone receives 10,000xp to dole out between their characters as they see fit. This will get added to your Banks automatically, but to redeem it, you must comment on the Experience Point bank, telling me how much you want given to each character. The only limitation is that you may put no more than 5,000 of it towards any character who is level 15 or higher.

They could be straight forward problems: complicated political issues, in depth investigations, far reaching evil organizations, etc or issues with a quicker fix: a single monster, incident, person, item, etc. that requires dealing with.

Completion time varies greatly depending on the speed of the group.

3) Main Plot. [costs XP] The mission group is closed to all those who have been previously engaged in a main plot mission and were invited by Draken Crombe to the Blade concert. This mission will take place soon after the wrap of the current main plot mission, and serve as the Chapter Finale. Keep an eye out for Plot Shop sign-ups. All previous members of Failboat are personally invited to attend, and Crombe has implied there will be consequences if they do not. As always, the events of the main plot will continue to expand to influence all characters in some way or another, such as the castle attack. There are lots of ways to involve yourself in main plot now that it's hit home in the castle, without specifically being on the main plot missions out in the field. Please make sure you will have time to dedicate to steadily and quickly tagging the main plot posts if you continue on with Option 3. This means being able to tag at least every day, often multiple times a day. I am considering potentially doing this finale as a Skype session but we will discuss this further soon.

Interested in playing at Knights of Legend but want to get a feel for the players/characters/world? Already in the game but want to clown around with other muses to see how they would fit here? Now's your chance!

The setting is our world... but all the legends are real, because magic has spilled over the centuries from a Dungeons & Dragons fantasy dimension called the Shadow World into the modern one. If you have a canon character, they too have spilled over through cracks between dimensions - and remember little to nothing of their past lives, except in some rare cases. How much they remember is entirely up to you! Canon characters can either have recently arrived in this world, or already be settled and accustomed to it. Original characters are natives of either this modern+magic dimension, or from the Shadow World - in which case, they too lost memories on their journey here.

Either way, your characters have joined up with the Knights of the Silver Dragon: a large secret organization dedicated to protecting this world against the evil creatures arriving from other dimensions - and protecting the innocent dimensional travelers from cultural misunderstandings and prejudice that they face here.

How it works:
1. Post as your character with Name | Canon if applicable in the subject line. You can choose the scene and prompt yourself or leave it blank for others to decide. Current players can make threads too, if you'd rather tag them!
2. Others respond to your prompt or after going to RNG and entering numbers 1- 15 for a prompt.
3. Respond and play it out!
4. Part of the fun of KOL is using dice rolls to determine success or failure of actions taken! For the purpose of this meme, don't worry about having a character sheet or stats for your character - if the GM or a fellow player asks you to make a roll to determine something, simply randomize out of 20 and compare it to the number they give you to see if your character succeeds or fails!
5. Play nice. If someone doesn't want to play something out, respect their wishes.

1. Arrival; Your character wandered into some mysterious mist in their homeworld... and abruptly finds themselves in some part of our modern world, with either all, most, some, or none of their memories missing! Play out their confused first steps in this new world. Get creative about where and what they arrived in the middle of! Many people end up using this TDM as canon or partial canon to their post-Veil history! As long as you get the consent of those you're threading with, that's perfectly fine. :)

2. Popo Shut Us Down; Oh crap, get to the getaway car! You may be innocent or have actually broken the law, but either way, you've got to escape those sirens because the cops don't know or care that you've got a license to kill and now you're wanted. Car, boat, chopper, whatever you want, just flee the scene together and fast!

3. The Floor is Lava; When spells go very wrong (or right?), sometimes childhood games aren't so funny... or imaginary.

4. Trapped in an Elevator; Bad luck or part of a villainous trap?

5. Roadtrip; You and the other character are on a mission together but it involves some travel. How will you handle life on the road together?

6. Trapped! One of the characters is trapped, whether behind bars or an unbreakable glass. Drama and/or epic breakouts ensue.

7. Apocalyptica. It's the end of the world!!11 Evil mages, horrible cults, the tarrasque, world war iii, you choose. The world needs some heroes, so maybe you should get on that.

8. Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Whether mad science gone wrong, or dangerous magic, now there are people-sized tomatoes terrorizing the town. Someone better do something about that.

9. Critical Failure. There's failure, and then there's critical failure - the result of rolling a one on your d20. This is an epic level of fail often reserved for slapstick comedy, but sometimes having really horrible consequences. You just set fire to the book you were attempting to do research with. You just tripped and fell face first into a moat full of crocodiles. Here's a solid example.

10. Weapon Training! The Knights handed you a gun - and gave you access to a massive armory full of every kind of medieval and modern weapon you can imagine. Make use of the combat rooms and get in some sparring time!

11. Handcuffed Together; You've fallen prey to a set of cursed handcuffs, and now you and the other character are inseparable! Literally...

12. Savior; you've been tasked to save this person, no matter the cost. Maybe they're a stranger, maybe they're your closest friend, even your greatest enemy, but you have to save them. From who or what is up to you!

13. C-c-c-cellmates. Man, getting kidnapped stinks. Break out?

14. Texts From Last Night; Either go to tfln, and select one, or make up one of your own!

15. Shot By Your Teammate; In the heat of battle, accidents happen... and the other character just shot you. ~~At least you think it was an accident. Dun dun dun.~~

16. Attack the Darkness; A classic dungeon crawl scenario! Never split the party as you make your way through a dungeon full of monsters and traps, looking for some kind of treasure.

17. Passive Aggressive Post-It Notes; Living with your fellow Knights 24/7, whether at the castle, or in close quarters on a mission, means you're going to get on each other's nerves sometimes. One or both of you is leaving passive aggressive post-it's for the other. Either respond in only post-it's back and forth, or roleplay out a confrontation once the notes get out of hand! Feel free to use the Post It Note Generator if you so choose!

18. Awkward Brunch; You've all seen plenty of these scenes before. There are tons of situations that can make things ~awkward~ between two people. And now you have to have brunch together. Uncomfortably pull through.

19. Fashion Show; Joining the Knights means getting a fancy suit of chainmail armor in blue and silver to wear for your Knighting ceremony. It weighs a ton and is awkward as fuck 8D You and the other character are trying them on for the first time together.

20. Another Goddamn Squiring Party: Squiring parties are exciting! Until you've been to a hundred of them.. Maybe this one will get spiced up with some drunken shenanigans???

What is a kink meme? Pretty self explanatory, actually. You request a pairing and a prompt/kink anonymously, and someone else (or several someone elses for that matter) will be able to fill that request- also anonymously (unless they choose to do it logged in). Fun way to get fic, fun way to find fic to write, and good if you're embarrassed to post! Fun for the whole fami- oh. Er, maybe not. You know what I mean! (Note that while this is called a kink meme, the rules are pretty fast and loose. Nonexplicit fic is also allowed, but there is generally a focus on kinky stuff or some form of character relationship of a sexual or romantic nature.)

Happy 4 years, KOL!

I am so proud and humbled and blown away to announce that we've hit our fourth anniversary today. I still can't believe how much this game has taken off, grown, been loved and cherished and supported, and led to such amazing bonds between players over the years. I can't thank any of y'all enough for your tireless work in making this concept work, your patience and enthusiasm that have made it worth every minute, and your willingness to continue experimenting with the form of DW RP. This game is my everything, and that is entirely because of what you have all made it, and the way it has been embraced and nourished with your support. Not only the support you give me, but the support you give each other.

By means of saying thank you, your anniversary present for this year is a bonus increase of one point to the ability score of your choice, for each of your characters. Once again, a friendly reminder that your birthday gift each year from me is a bonus feat for each of your characters as well (active or inactive), on your birthday.

YOUR MISSION, SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT

is to give me an idea of what you're interested in doing as a response to this post, sometime before Friday, January 15th.

Please respond with a list of all your active characters and what you'd like for them. If you have any characters who have NEVER BEEN ON A MISSION, please indicate this in your comment, and list them first.

This is to help sort out characters onto missions for probably the next 4-5 months.

Needing/wanting a more laid back approach through the next several months? You're probably going to want option 1.

1) Opt Out. First off, if you're worried about being just too busy to do any missions at all in the next several months (given that missions ask for a steadier rate of tags than social castle logs do) and would rather opt out entirely, please respond with "OPT OUT -CHARACTER NAME-" or Option 1. Your character will still be able to participate in logs around the castle, or go off on their own mini adventures around London or... wherever they wanna go, but they won't be holding up any group missions by accident. If you're on a different mission that is still currently backlogging, and don't like concentrating on tagging two missions at once, feel free to pick this option as well!

However, if you're interested in doing a regular mission, with lots of NPC and fellow PC interaction, guided action scenarios with dicerolls and all that goodness, option 2 or 3 will be the way to go.

Sign-ups close on Jan 15th. All previous members of Failboat are able to opt in to this mission to go interrupt Dimitris Sarandis' wedding and take him down once and for all, but I also have room to add 3 other PCs. If you would like to send a character along who has not previously been on a Failboat mission, please leave a comment with a request, including your character and a quick rationale for Wynn choosing to send them on the Plot Shop post. I will review any applicants to see what makes most sense from a party standpoint on the 15th! As always, the events of the main plot will continue to expand to influence all characters in some way or another, such as the castle attack. Gifts can consist of drawings, wallpapers, fanmixes, icons, manips, fic, poetry, analytical essays, pictures of yourself cosplaying their character, food themed after their character (well, photographs of it), knitted sweaters with their character on them, or really anything that you can think of. In the past, running Secret Santa at another game, we also had mood themes, hats, calendars, figurines, chain mail accessories and more! Examples from last year can be found here. Everybody has a talent of some kind. You are allowed to make someone more than one thing, I won't stop you. You can choose from any of their active characters, but it should have something to do with their KOL experience. This should require some effort on your part. You will have about a month. Just give it your best! Even crappy presents are hilarious and everyone loves them.

Gifts can be delivered as comment links or responses to the appropriate recipient on this post (or however else you want to), on Christmas Day. Please share what you received on Plurk or somewhere, so that we can all see and enjoy it! :D You are asked to keep your match secret from the person you are matched with until Christmas, but may reveal yourself when it is delivered.

Hey gang. So much appreciation for your patience in getting to the next leg of things, as always. Y'all are amazing.

As you all have no doubt seen by now, occasionally logs take much longer than we assume they will to finish, and sometimes the best solution is to change the date on the log. Realistically, all of the year's missions... shouldn't have all taken place in the same month, so I might imagine April to really mean anytime from March-July, but I'm not overly concerned about rearranging those. I was going to move Gallery of Evil to later in the year if Nyna had died, but since she has survived, that doesn't seem necessary. City of Blood has been moved to take place immediately prior to the upcoming event. If there's other stuff that people want added, just let me know what makes the most sense for it in the comments on this post!
